Oh, How Pinteresting: Laundry Room Edition

John and I took advantage of Black Friday deals and FINALLY bought a new washer and dryer!  Our current set is crap!  John bought it while I was still in college and it has moved 4 times since he purchased it.  It must think my clothes are tasty because it eats them all the time!  I'm pretty sure John was just sick of hearing me complain so he gave in.  Since a new washer and dryer means a laundry room makeover, Today's Oh, How Pinteresting is dedicated to my favorite laundry room pins.  You can see my board, Loads of Fun, here.

My dream laundry room would look something this.  Craft room and laundry room in one.  Genius!


My actual laundry room is much smaller, more like this.  I'm loving the color!  I wonder if I could convince John to hang a chandelier?  Doubtful!

I wish we had room for a utility sink.  This is probably not very practical, but super cute!

This is such a cute way to hang an ironing board.  Looks pretty easy to make too.

I also want to try to make a drying rack.  This is so much cuter and anything you can buy in a store.

I definitely want cabinets installed for storage.  We currently have an old bookshelf taking up space and not hiding anything.

Wine, Cheese, and Chihuly Nights

Last night John and I went on a date night to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum.  They offer concerts on Thursday nights so we packed some wine, cheese and bread (my favorite dinner) and enjoyed the music while relaxing with our picnic. 

We arrived early enough to see Cenderella's Pumpkin Village before it was dark.  It was so amazing!  There are more than 50,000 pumpkins that fill the space.

It was so awesome being there in the evening without strollers and kids!

Oh, How Pinteresting

I've taken a bit of a blog break over the past few months.  Between wedding hangover and summer travel I have not blogged AT ALL.  Never fear, I will make sure to update you on what has been going on in our lives.  But first, I bring you Oh, How Pinteresting. 

 

 My friend Jessica found out she is expecting a little girl in March so I jumped the gun and already started planning her shower.  Since she reads my blog from time to time I can't post my favorite pins, however I can show you this one.  I pinned it over the weekend and yesterday Jessica texted me this exact pin!  I think I am headed in the right direction!  You can find the rest of my baby shower pins here (I made Jessica unfollow this board before I pinned anything so my ideas are safe).

I am working on organizing and redecorating my craft room/office/guest room.  I love the girly look of the next 2 pins, but I'm afraid it would look like a hot mess with all of my craft/etsy suppliers added.

To totally change subjects, I made this bread for a potluck at work last week.  It was super delicious and a big hit. 

Since I am totally random today, why not share some Halloween pins?  I am going to try out these DIY pumpkins this weekend.

 One of the best purchases I have ever made was this chalkboard for our foyer.  I love changing it for holidays, birthdays, etc.  I originally purchased it for our wedding, but it became a permanent fixture in our house so we totally forgot about it for the wedding.

How adorable is this quilt and pillow?!?!  It was a wedding gift from John's aunt and we were super excited to break it out for the 4th of July.

John is the best hubby in the world and filled my ghetto pool yesterday so it would be warm today.  I plan to spend a good portion of the day with a glass of wine and a book in the pool.

I made this adorable 4th of July headband for my Etsy Shop, but never listed it.  I am so bad at that!  I guess I am ready for 2013.

Technically this sash is not Red, White, and Blue, but close enough.  I LOVE this sash that I created for a bride-to-be.  I loved it so much that decided to add it to my shop.

I love this butterfly fascinator from Belle de Benoir.  I wish I could wear it tonight to fireworks.

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue...

Something Old...

My Something Old was my brooch bouquet.  It was made by my Aunt/Godmother Kathy.  I started collecting brooches from the moment we were engaged.  Some of them came from antique stores and others were gifts from friends and family members.  It was really special to have brooches from my Grandma and Great-Grandmas so I could have a way to remember them on my wedding day.  The pink butterfly was to represent my dad.

Something New...

My Something New was my hot pink Manolo Blahnik shoes.  I added "I Do" to the bottom (I also added "She's Mine" to the bottom of John's shoes).

And...

My other Something New was new perfume.  I don't use it everyday, but when I do it reminds me of my wedding day.

Something Borrowed...

My Something Borrowed was my purse.  It is the purse my mom used when she and my dad got married.

And...

 My other Something Borrowed was my earrings.  They belong to my friend Jessica, who wore them on her wedding day.  My friend Ashley (who was married 4 weeks before us) also wore them.

Something Blue...

My Something Blue was this blue piece of fabric my mom had embroidered with our names and wedding date that was stitched to the inside of my dress.  The fabric came from my Aunt/Godmother Kathy's bridesmaid dress from my parents' wedding.

Happy Birthday Rachel

 Over the weekend we celebrated my 28th birthday.  Since my birthday was three weeks after our wedding we decided to keep it a pretty low key weekend.  We usually throw a big party with a fun theme (last year was a gold party for my golden birthday and the year before was a Kentucky Derby party with a hat contest) but decided there have been enough parties in my/our honor this month. 

My day started out wonderful; John made me a smoothie for breakfast and left a sweet note in my car.  When I got to work, my team surprised me with breakfast.  It was very thoughtful, considering I have only worked with them for a week.  My friend Jessica took me to lunch at Taco Diner.  We thought we would be smart and sit on the patio and work on our tans.  BAD IDEA.  We were so hot and so sweaty within 5 minutes.  Oh well, we will be smarter next time.  My birthday present from Jessica was an adorable Kate Spade bracelet, a fun scarf, and a set of OPI nail polish.  She is such an amazing present picker-outer!

After working a very long day I went home to celebrate with Johnny.  He bought me my very own set of golf clubs.  I don't golf, but I like to go to the driving range and TopGolf.  I guess I need to learn how to play now that  I have fancy schmancy clubs.  After presents, John and I went to dinner at Brio.  We planned to see Hunger Games after dinner but I was way too tired after an exhausting week at work so we went home and hung out.

I called my mom and talked to her while I was opening her present.  So fun, why have I not done that before?  She bought me a bunch of fun things at Crate & Barrel to host Mexican night.  I can't wait!

On Saturday morning I was super excited to try out my new clubs at the driving range.  There is a crappy golf course near our house that I LOVE because there is never anyone at the driving range and it is cheap.  I really enjoyed having the driving range to ourselves because nobody was there to watch how bad I am.

The golf theme continued into Saturday night.  We met some friends at TopGolf.  Here is Jessica.  She turned into a pretty amazing TopGolfer by the end of the night.

Usually I am happy if I don't lose at TopGolf, but I won both games!  I beat everyone, including the boys...TWICE!  My new clubs are amazing!

On Sunday night I relaxed and enjoyed the last few moments of my birthday weekend with a glass bottle of prosecco.  Thank you Lesley and Angela for the delicious birthday present!  And how fun is that champagne flute?  We got them as a wedding gift and finally got a chance to use them.
