Oh, How Pinteresting!!!

Pinterest has seriously changed my life, so this post focuses on pins I have used (and love).

Elf is my FAVORITE Christmas movie so I ordered this on Etsy last week.  I cannot wait to get it in the mail!

Homemade Butterfingers!  They are SOOOO easy.  1 pound bag of candy corn and 1 jar of peanut butter (I used Peter Pan because they is what the recipe suggested).  Melt everything on the stove (the recipe said microwave, but I thought the stove was easier).  Pour into a small lined baking dish and let cool.  Cut into desired size and cover with chocolate.  I used Wilton Candy Melts in Light Cocoa that I bought at Michael's - Thanks Mom for the chocolate suggestion.  I did melt the chocolate in the microwave, it was much easier than the stove.  Not only are these super easy, they actually taste like butterfingers!

I happened to have everything to make these.  We don't have kids so I know this was a strange thing to make, but they were delicious!

I made this a while back for a dinner party we had.  I don't use it like the picture, I just use it as a cute dry erase board and occasionally use it to write "Tonight's Menu"

I bought a case of disposable wedding cameras on a Groupon-type wedding website.  I know it is cheesy, but I thought it would be fun.  I made a version of this to go along with the cameras.

I pinned this to my wedding board.  My friend Jessica has an amazing Etsy site.  She will be making almost all of my wedding accessories (veil, hair accessories, and bracelet).  You can get to her shop here.

Of course I had to pin and post one of my items from my Etsy shop.  This is very similar to a sash I just shipped out to a bride to be.  You can find this sash here

Essie Matte About You top coat.  I am not a fan of the nails in the photo, but the top coat is fun.  I have only used it a few times, but it is a fun change to make any nail color matte.

It is officially scarf season...some days.  Unfortunately, it is still kind of warm in Texas.

This just makes me smile and pretty much sums me up.

Ashley & Ryan's Engagment Party

This weekend we celebrated Ashley & Ryan's engagement.  Ashley was my college roommate, and now lives in New York.  She and Ryan will say "i do" in March.  Apparently I did not get any photos of the happy couple together (...or John, I swear he was there).

RAJ (Rachel, Ashley, Jessica; a.k.a neapolitan ice cream) - The three of us were Fashion Merchandising majors at TCU and met in our Clothing Construction class.  We are all still great friends.

Jessica & Jordan

 The cake was adorable!

After we ate the cake, it was time to play dress-up with the pieces.  Ashley looks like Kim Kardashian on her wedding day.

I guess I did get some pictures of the happy couple.  Ryan reenacted the proposal with the fondant ring.

I don't have words, this is what I love about them!

Jessica's turn

Time to eat the accessories!

Yum...
...until 10 minutes later when everyone had a tummy ache.

Congratulations Ryan & Ashley!  I cannot wait to celebrate your wedding in March.

Engagement Photos

After being engaged for 13 months, John and I FINALLY took our engagement photos.  Our photographer, Amy, lives in the same neighborhood so we thought it would be fun to take a few shots in front of the Castle Hills sign.  Our next stop was our house.  John forgot a pair of shoes so we decided to take some shots, since we were already there.  Next, it was time to start our journey around the metroplex.  We started at SMU, where we took photos on the boulevard, at the business school, and inside and in front of Dallas Hall.  John wore a red SMU tee and I wore a white and purple TCU tee.

When we finished at SMU, we headed to the Stock Yards in Fort Worth.  I changed into my new cowgirl boots and a green dress.  John wore a white button down shirt, jeans, and boots.  The Stockyards were really busy, but Amy knew all the best places so we found areas with no people.  While we were there, the sky started to look pretty scary so we decided to rush to TCU to get our final shots before the rain.

In the car, I changed into a black dress, black pumps, and my grandma's pearls.  John stayed in his jeans and added a black jacket.  We took a few formal photos at the fountain before JUMPING IN!  Last time I jumped in Frog Fountain I was in high school.  We had a blast getting soaked in our formal clothes.  We finished our photos just as the rain came.  We were pretty sad that we did not get a beautiful sunset, but from the sneak peek we got, the photos turned out pretty awesome.

Oh, How Pinteresting!!!!

I have a slight nail polish addiction.  I must buy this immediately!

I did this to my hair on Monday (with a messy bun) and Tuesday (hair down).  SO EASY!

Finally ordering Save the Dates.  I found this on Pinterest and I am now working with the girl on Etsy to make my own.  Thank you Pinterest!

My friend Jessica and I had a Pinterest party on Saturday.  This is  one of the recipes she used.  Delish!

This is from my Etsy site.  Every time I look at it I smile.  I am going to be sad when she finds a new home.

I cannot wait for the weather to change so I can buy a new TCU top.  LOVE this dolman sleeve.  This is from Game Day Cloth at Shops at Legacy (also available online).

I have been wanting to hire someone to do a deep clean of my house.  Looking at it like this makes it seem not so bad.  I started in the Kitchen yesterday with the giant pile of junk mail that wont go away.

I will buy this...one day:)

Last but not least...

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Wedding Cake

Nearly 2 years ago I was a bridesmaid at Jessica and Jordan's wedding.  At the end of the night, while cleaning up, we discovered the top tier of the cake, still intact.  Jessica was not planning on keeping it so I thought it would be fun to surprise them with it when they got back from their honeymoon.  The next week, when we picked them up from the airport, I totally forgot it was in my freezer.  When I remembered it was there, a few days later, I thought I would wait to give it to them until they moved into their new house.  Surprise, surprise that did not happen so I figured I would keep it even longer and give it to them for their one year anniversary.  Again, that did not happen.  I am terrible!  A few weeks ago, when they were over watching the TCU game, I decided to pull it out and surprise them after the game.  So, almost 2 years later, they enjoyed their cake...

Still looked pretty!

Here they go!

Tasted TERRIBLE!!!

Road Trip

The final days of family vacation were spent road tripping back to Minnesota.  John had to get back to TX so it was my mom and her four kids.  She did a fantastic job planning and made sure to pack the fun into only a few days.  The first day, we got up early and hit the road.  By 10am we had already been in 2 countries and 3 states, and we were ready for some breakfast.  Since my mom and siblings are big fans of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, they had already planned on eating breakfast at Lucky's Cafe in Cleveland.  My mom and I shared the Baked Mac-N-Cheese and the Biscuits & Gravy, both recommendations from the show.  Not the healthiest when you are sitting in a car all day, but it was AMAZING!  After breakfast we took a break from driving and visited the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame.  My favorite exhibits were Elvis, The Beatles, and Micheal Jackson.  Unfortunately, cameras were not allowed so I only have a picture of the outside of the building.

After the museum, we all piled back in the car and headed to Sandusky, OH.  After checking into our hotel, we headed to Cedar Point Amusement Park, the roller coaster capital of the world.  I have not been to an amusement park with my family since my brothers were little, so it was fun to be able to ride all the rides without worrying about kids not being tall enough.  By the end of the day we were exhausted, but we managed to pack a ton of fun into one day.  To recap, we woke up in Canada, drove through four states, ate a Diners Drive-Ins and Dives restaurant, visited the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and went to an amusement park.  Good job planning mom!

Our final adventure was the sand dunes in Indiana.  Unfortunately it was raining when we got there so we spent the evening in our hotel room having family game night.  Like usual, we played Settlers and I WON!!!  Settlers sounds like a really stupid game, especially if you listen to other people play, but once you learn it is really fun.  Both of my brother are teenagers and love it!

The next morning we went to the beach.  It was a little chilly and windy and my mom did not want to mess up her hair.  She kind of looks like a criminal.

Beautiful Morning!

Alex found this sail boat on the beach and gave it to me.  I brought it home to John and it is currently living on the kitchen window sill.  Don't ask why, sometime we are silly.

Alex skipping rocks.  There were thousands of perfect, flat rocks.  Alex is 16, the age where everything is stupid, and said he could stay all day.  I would say the beach was a hit!

Goodbye beautiful morning!
